This week’s spotlight is on David Bryant, President of NewWorld Partners, Inc. a COVID-19 testing company based in Austin & Houston, and a Texan for 58 years.

Your claim to fame: What special skill or fun fact differentiates you from others?
I’ve always been in healthcare. I was formerly a hospital executive and find the business and deployment of healthcare very rewarding. Nice blend of complex medicine and compassion. I try to find that blend.

What’s the most memorable experience on a project or production that you’ve had and what made it so special?
I had to manage a commercial being filmed in three cities over five consecutive days. Somehow, we pulled it off, but wow, very little sleep involved on that one. Getting results back to the producers just in time was rewarding.

What are the skills required to succeed in your specific area of expertise?
Calmness, confidence, and articulating testing methods to lay people and giving them the best options to keep their people safe.

Have you had an industry mentor or colleague that has made an impact on you or helped you along your career path? If so who, and how did they impact you?
I’ve met so many great people at all levels. I can’t narrow it down to one. The challenge that Covid-19 presented to the industry was profound. It was clear that healthcare workers already have a hard job, and then the pandemic added another task on them. We need to take the testing and safety off their list or at least make it easier. I hope we have.

What advice have you been given that continues to be helpful in your work?
Be the solution.

In your industry, collaboration is the key to success. How do you best foster collaboration with your colleagues from project to project?
Wrap it all together. Make testing and resulting automated and easy to review so that they know they’ve done their best to keep everyone safe.

What’s the best part about working in Texas?
There are no better people than Texans. I’ve traveled and worked all over, but I always feel at home in Tejas.

Why do you choose the Lone Star State as a place to live and work?
I work here for many reasons, but the business-friendly nature of Texas is hard to top.
